The BODUM® Basics range is exclusively available in BODUM® stores, and it offers customers a more sustainable and even more affordable choice of products.
BODUM® Basics are made entirely of pure, raw materials such as cotton, wood, bamboo, glass, porcelain, and steel. Even the plastic is a natural product. So you can have the same high quality BODUM® design and functionality, but there’s no packaging, no colour pigment and no waste. Simple, sustainable and stylish.
Coffee has always taken center stage at BODUM® and the French press remains our biggest star. It’s pure and simple which is exactly the reason why coffee tasters use this method to determine the quality of coffee beans. The materials of the French press (glass and stainless steel) are completely taste-free so nothing comes between your ground coffee beans and the hot water. The French press literally generates no waste at all, no metal capsules, no paper, no nothing. You only boil as much water as you need – and there you go. We all know plastic water bottles are an environmental problem, but have you thought about all those metal capsules left by other coffee machines? They generate more waste than espresso. With the BODUM® French press it’s just glass, water and coffee – brewing doesn’t get any purer.
Who would have thought tea could become any more popular – it’s been the most popular drink besides water for a long time. That’s right, tea consumption is on the rise and we certainly did our share to make it happen: The BODUM® tea makers are the best way to brew tea. There, we’ve said it. Many have tried to sue us for saying the same thing about our coffee makers but so far nobody has disagreed with us in terms of tea makers. And we haven’t even talked about our ice tea makers yet. Tea brewing doesn’t get any purer than with the BODUM® tea presses. This unique system makes sure your tea is brewed precisely to your desired strength and aroma. We’ve developed the tea press with the English Tea Council over 30 years ago and we’ve been perfecting it ever since. Most of the BODUM® tea presses are made of borosilicate glass which doesn’t stain and doesn’t give off any taste. The glass allows you to watch the brewing process, bringing all the beautiful tea colors to life. Whether you love green tea, black tea or fruit teas, the BODUM® tea presses are as much a pleasure for the eye as they are for the taste buds.
Our kitchens have changed a lot in the last ten years. They have become the central hub of our living quarters – almost like the farm kitchens in Denmark used to be, the country where BODUM® was founded. They’re the place where everything happens, where everybody meets, where discussions are held and beans are spilled. The kitchen calls for laughter and for tears – from mincing onions, mainly. It has become the favorite place to hang out, maybe even watch TV or work on the computer, and definitely enjoy wonderful dinners with friends. The kitchen is no longer a cordoned off place that feeds what’s going on in the living room. Today’s kitchen is the living room, it’s where everybody ends up anyway. And that’s a good thing – we want them to see the whole range of beautiful BODUM® products at work after all.
With e-bodum® we basically mean everything that comes with an electrical cord – that’s a whole new category for us. Sure, we’ve had some electrical products for some time now like water kettles and grinders and such. But now we’re really going for that plug thing. You might think, that’s counter-intuitive in a time where “unplugged” is all the rage. Yes and no. Our new electric water kettles are smaller and deliver that boiling water with the lowest energy consumption possible – as long as you never boil more water than you actually need. There is even a novelty if we can call it that: it’s a kettle Ettore Sottsass designed for us in 1988 that we’ve never come around releasing. Sometimes good things take time – and even all these years later the kettle certainly still honors Mr. Sottsass, the Memphis design group and their vision. e-bodum® also gives you mixers, stick blenders, toasters, juicers – basically everything you need for a good and healthy breakfast – and it does so very inexpensively. We don’t need bigger, meaner kitchen machines; we need smarter ones. That’s why boiling water makes better and greener coffee than an expensive and energy-guzzling machine that spills out metal capsules for every single cup of espresso. We like it simple, and we like it green at BODUM®. And we like saving you money. A lot of money, actually.
